Leverage Joined Multiple Companies in UNGC - CAA&TGE Project

In August 2022, Leverage sent representatives to participate in the online welcome meeting of Climate Ambition Accelerator (CAA) and Target Gender Equality (TGE) hosted by UNGC United Nations Global Compact.

During the meeting, the UNGC team members introduced the project overview and follow-up arrangements to the company, and also allowed the representatives of each participating company to introduce themselves and get to know each other, so as to facilitate the follow-up and better collaboration to complete the project.

The dual accelerator program landed in China at the same time, providing a platform for enterprises to obtain professional support, ability enhancement and experience exchange opportunities in the two important sustainable development dimensions of climate, environment and society.

Climate change has affected all regions of the earth and has become a common challenge faced by human beings. It is related to the survival and development of human beings. It requires joint efforts of many parties to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on a global scale. At the same time, more and more business leaders are recognizing that taking climate action is the best way to build healthier and more prosperous businesses.

The CAA Enterprise Accelerator Program is an action-oriented climate capacity building program provided by the United Nations Global Compact for corporate members. It aims to help companies acquire the required knowledge and professional skills to accelerate their climate action process and gain a deep understanding of the most widely accepted global The Carbon Reduction Targeting Approach (SBTi), which provides companies with the knowledge and capacity to develop science-based emission reduction targets that are aligned with a 1.5°C pathway.

Gender equality is critical to global corporate performance and sustainable economic growth. Female leadership and the percentage of women on corporate teams are closely related to a company's return, ESG performance, and visibility. However, global progress in women's economic empowerment is still very limited, and the global outbreak of the new crown epidemic has further challenged the realization of gender equality.

Through the systematic learning and interactive participation of TGE projects, participating enterprises can fully and deeply understand and implement the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), and strengthen their contribution to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5.5 - this goal calls for Women's full participation and leadership through equal opportunities by 2030, understanding the various policies, practices and actions needed to achieve gender equality in the economy.

As a member of the United Nations Global Compact, an ILO SCORE corporate sustainability project licensing agency, and a member of many international organizations, Leverage has been actively promoting the sustainable development of enterprises. The SBTi goal is to help the organization's carbon reduction goals, while promoting gender equality practices in the organization, creating a fair, unbiased and inclusive workplace for female employees, and enhancing the career development of female employees, thereby contributing to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.
